Sneak Preview of the Hottest 2018 Paint Color Trends

This year’s most Instagram-worthy and trendy colors are the cool whites of the ocean and the comfy whites of home. Sherwin-Williams' color story Unity, pictured here, is inspired by the connection of people and places. It beautifully pairs unexpected colors like striking blue, animated fuchsia, and creamy yellow. Thanks to social media, everyone seems to be talking about travel. Even if you aren't a regular jet-setter, you can still draw color inspiration from around the world. If you live in California, it doesn't mean your palette needs to be nature-inspired or if you're a New Yorker, you have to embrace industrial-inspired shades.

Take a deep breath and enjoy a moment of relaxation in rooms touched by whisper white, misted green and shadowy lilac-gray. Dark colors combined with light neutrals in furniture, flooring or other decorative accessories create a pleasing balance for both interior rooms and exterior color schemes. New Year, New Colors

It epitomizes the concept of a refresh, lends itself to a cheerful finish, and instantly brightens up a space. 'Caviar' is a black that's on the cusp of charcoal, so it pairs well with dark grays and won't contrast too starkly with furniture in deeper shaders. This year’s pick is “Caliente” which in Spanish means “hot.” The suggested use of this color is on an accent wall.

For February, Antique.

I have to agree with how few colors appeal to me. Too many oranges and browns, which most people cannot wear successfully…muddy looking; not what I was expecting at all. I’m glad I already have a large stash to work this this coming year.

Which 2018 Color of the Year is your favorite color? Honestly, this is the first time that I can say that I love them all for various reasons/different uses in spaces. Sherwin Williams 2018 Color of the Year is called Oceanside. Dutch Boy Paints just announced their 2018 Color of the Year and surprise! It’s called Sandstone and it’s a beautiful warm greige.

June is Azalea.

If the model hates it so much, it’s hard for me to like the colors presented. BTW Sapphire is the birthstone of September. Nice to see the Sapphire color in September and let August have plumwood.or whatever the heck that is.

Use the same color as the walls...or venture out and try an alter... Another color to watch for in 2018 is SW 7588 Show Stopper . This pinky-red has a vintage feel to it and yet is very modern. It’s not overwhelming when used over the whole room but can provide a bold pop when used as an accent. It’s no secret that we have an obsession with yellow. We wishfully forecasted it as Pantone’s COY and dubbed it as theofficial color of summer—and even though a new year has come around, we’re still not over it.

If you’re looking for bold, statement turquoise is this year’s ticket. A combination of blue and green, it will definitely blend well with many shades of each. And the beauty is that you can use it for an accent wall, or the entire room. Thank you so much for giving us such wonderful variety! I love this idea, and ESPECIALLY that it’s separate from Pantone’s predictions. Call me crazy, but I just don’t like the idea of wandering into a room and blending in with the furniture every where I go.

I agree with earlier comment about browns and that marigolds color will truly look good on almost no one. I recently went natural acme white with my hair and I can no longer pull off bribes or browns so that may be part of it. We’d love to hear what you like once you’ve seen them in person. Would love the pattern for the turtleneck shown under the Clay section. We’ll take a walk on the wilder side with Wolf in October.

My husband wants to pick out something with a green tint to it. I am however not very good with color so I want to know your opinion whether you think it will be too much to use this color in all the rooms. Or at least dining room, front foyer, and the office which are all connected in one part of the house. Accents are touches of color strategically placed to create maximum impact in a room. Bright colors help enliven small spaces; dark colors create a sense of formality.

“In the Moment” is a soothing blue-green color that would be great for a spa bathroom or restful bedroom. It is a very bold color so I can see how it might be a bit intimidating to think of painting it on your walls. This dusty and rich blue flirts with navy and teal but doesn’t quite edge into either. It would work as a trim, accent, single wall, or a full color over an entire room. From the bold to the muted and all that comes in between, the following colors each promise a vibrant change and a break from the ordinary. If these do prove to be the colours for 2018, I shall have to increase my clothing budget. I love most of these selections and am now hopefully anticipating lots of fabrics and readymade clothes to buy. The theme of this article uses nature for colors.

Some of my favorite forecasts are the “Color of the Year” selections that the paint companies make each year. This palette includes Parakeet , Robust Orange , Netsuke , Antique Red , Cerise , Antique White , Balanced Beige and Sealskin . This palette includes Divine White , Spiced Cider , Riverway , Comfort Gray , Blue Nile , Noteable Hue , Salty Dog and Mink . Our design does not have a top header keeping things updated + fresh. Will continue to define the months to come and seep into 2019's design visual boards.

I favor the late summer to early winter colors in this bunch. That time of year has such richness in nature. Not impressed with most of the outfits and the colors seem a bit drab. I like Clay and Wolf although you really don’t see what color wolf actually is; I liked the yarns shown. I am really disappointed with the angry model look that has become so popular. All the models look like they really hate what they are wearing and wish to escape and get out of the outfit as quickly as possible.

It’s perfect for a cooling effect and looks exceptional with dark wood, white furnishings and both modern and classic interiors. This understated color has just a note of beige warmth in a rich gray base. Like all Sherwin-Williams paints, it wears very well. There's no denying we're in love with all-black rooms, and 2018 is totally onboard with the sleek and sexy trend. According to Trendir, black should be treated as a neutral this year, considering it complements nearly any theme or color palette.
